A Orquestra Juvenil de Guitarras do Algarve é um projecto cultural para jovens, dinamizado pela Associação de Guitarra do Algarve desde 2001. Como objectivo final, este projecto visa a constituição de uma Orquestra Regional, unindo os 16 concelhos, representados cada um dos quais, por uma instituição local a que chamámos – Pólo dinamizador.

A ideia, é levar o ensino da música, em torno da guitarra, para fora dos grandes centros urbanos. Propomos como desafio, despertar gostos e atitudes, valorizar a comunidade local, envolver a família, contribuindo desta forma, para uma relação de vectores sócio–culturais, que julgamos serem fundamentais como complemento na formação integral da pessoa humana, nomeadamente dos jovens a quem é dirigido este projecto.

The “Youth Guitar Orchestra of Algarve” is a socio-cultural project for young people from the southern region of Portugal. The organization of this project is on the hands of the Guitar Association of Algarve. It is formed by young people from all the local, interior and coast cities of the region.

Musically speaking, the orchestra has a repertoire that includes such genre as classical, portuguese, world and international pop music.
This is a dynamic project, which is built with different levels of knowledge, being the main orchestra formed by a group of 45 elements.
The Association is willing to promote the “Youth Guitar Orchestra of Algarve” through concerts or interchange with foreign projects.
